A court here on Tuesday awarded death penalty to a man and his son for killing his daughter and her lover.
Gita (22) and her lover Sunil (32) were found with their throats slit and other body parts hacked in Bali village of Baghpat on December 28, 2007.
As per the prosecution, the two were killed by the girl’s father, Mathalisaran, and two brothers, Harendra being one and another who was a juvenile.
In his order, Additional District and Session Judge Rajendra Babu Sharma while awarding death penalty said as per the prosecution the accused had used a sharp weapon called “balkati’’ to cut the throat and other parts of the bodies of the victims in a most inhuman and barbaric manner.
Treating the case as one of honour killing, the Judge said the matter comes within the scope of “rarest of rare’’ cases and therefore the accused deserve the death penalty.
The Judge also imposed a fine of Rs.80,000 on the accused.
